About Chowbus

Chowbus, an Asian food delivery platform founded in 2016, prides itself on providing customers with access to authentic Asian cuisine from local restaurants, and restaurants with access to cutting edge POS and digital ordering solutions. Operating across several North American cities, the company offers single meals and bundled meals from multiple restaurants.

We had a discussion with James Wang, Head of Operations at Chowbus, who leads the team towards ensuring a seamless food delivery experience while steadily scaling Chowbus’s reach.

The challenges

Before Nash, Chowbus's primary challenge was operational inefficiency. With each region requiring a dedicated dispatcher who manually entered each order's details, the process was tedious and time-consuming. Additionally, the complexity of dealing with multiple delivery fleets required significant recruiting and management efforts.

Scaling this manual operation and fleet sourcing without increasing the team size proportionally proved difficult, and Chowbus needed all their extra resources to focus on expanding their product offering to include POS (Point of sale) systems for their merchants.

Recognizing the need for a more efficient, automated solution that could handle their growth and expansion plans, Chowbus sought a platform that could help streamline their delivery management.

The Results

With Nash's automation capabilities, Chowbus quadruples dispatcher efficiency. A dispatcher who previously managed a single region is now able to oversee four to five regions, a testament to the significant operational efficiency gained.

Streamlined operations with a direct integration

In three months, Chowbus was directly integrated with Nash. Before the integration, using non-Chowbus external fleets were more manual and time-consuming, requiring the input of delivery addresses into a portal and additional steps to determine the most suitable delivery fleet. The introduction of Nash's integration eliminates the need for these labor-intensive tasks, paving the way for more streamlined processes.

Dispatchers at Chowbus, through a dispatch page on their backend system, can now make a simple choice: send an order using their own drivers or delegate it to Nash. If the order is sent to Nash, the delivery platform is already configured to optimize for either cost or delivery time, making the process automatic.

This development has led to an efficient one-click process for dispatchers when sending orders to Nash. Furthermore, Chowbus now spends less time and attention scrutinizing individual orders as the smooth operation is ensured by Nash, allowing the Chowbus team to trust that the process is proceeding as it should. If any issues do arise during the delivery process, Chowbus is immediately notified, and they can act accordingly.

Smoother deliveries with top-tier support 

Throughout the initial months of testing various delivery platforms across different regions, Chowbus found Nash's customer support to be notably superior. The communication process is streamlined and effective, leveraging both emails and direct instant messaging. This facilitates an environment where any queries are addressed swiftly, contributing to a smooth and efficient working relationship.

"For a few months initially, we tested out different delivery services in different regions with Nash, and throughout this whole process, we felt extremely supported. The communication was super smooth, whether it was through email or instant message, allowing for instantaneous communication. They responded immediately to any questions we had.
